Job Description

Boulder County Democratic Party: Field Organizer

The Boulder County Democratic Party (BCDP) is seeking a driven, self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic candidate for a part-time field organizing position during the 2026 election cycle.

The Field Organizer's primary responsibility will be to work directly with the BCDP Field Team to recruit, train, and oversee precinct organizers and volunteers across the county, and help plan numerous organizing campaigns, such as voter registration, canvassing, literature drops, and other Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts.

In addition, the Field Organizer will work as needed with other BCDP teams, such as the Outreach & Inclusion Team (OIT) to build and maintain relationships with local activist and community organizations, in particular in Latino, LGBTQ+, and other underrepresented communities, and with the Volunteer Team to recruit, train, and manage volunteers for all BCDP needs, such as communications, community events, or fundraising.

The Field Organizer will report to the Vice Chair for Internal Planning and Implementation, who will set specific weekly priorities and targets. This role is structured around opportunities for personal and professional development, training, and mentorship, and will provide chances for networking with political campaigns, the state and county Democratic parties, and other local activist organizations.

Wages: $35/hour

Hours: 20 hours/week

Location: hybrid (in-person at the BCDP office or events with some remote flexibility)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and train volunteers for single shifts of organizing campaigns or to fill vacant precinct organizers and area coordinator vacancies across the county.
  • Work with the Field Team to organize campaigns such as GOTV literature drops and canvassing.
  • Use organizing software such as VAN (Vote Builder), Reach, and NGP.
  • Work with OIT and other BCDP teams on other organizing campaigns, such as distribution of Know Your Rights literature.
  • Assist in event organization and execution, focusing on volunteer recruitment and retention.
  • Additional organizing tasks as needed.

Ideal candidates for this position will have:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion in working with our volunteers.
  • Good organizational habits and ability to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Experience organizing for progressive campaigns or causes and building volunteer bases.
  • Experience with VAN (Vote Builder), Reach, NGP, or other campaign and political software.
  • Willingness and comfort learning and adapting to new technology.
  • Demonstrated multi-cultural competency and/or a deep personal connection to underrepresented communities in Boulder County.
  • Conversational or fluent Spanish a bonus but not required.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Access to a laptop and reliable smart phone.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

BCDP recognizes that terrific candidates may come from a wide variety of backgrounds. If you do not check every box on this list, but you have a willingness to learn and a passion for politics, social justice, equity, and community, we encourage you to apply!

Hiring Timeline:

We will begin conducting interviews in mid- to late June. The estimated start date is July 15.

This is a part-time position based in Boulder County, Colorado. The Field Organizer can expect to occasionally have commitments on evenings and weekends including, but not limited to, events, executive committee, field team, and OIT team meetings, and other BCDP functions as required, and they will be paid for that time. This position has been budgeted through and will have an end date of November 15, 2026. The budget for this role is pending approval by the BCDP Executive Committee on June 10.

The mission of the Boulder County Democratic Party is to work to elect leaders and achieve political policies that reflect our values. If you want to be a part of achieving that mission, growing and maintaining a sustainable volunteer base to help achieve victory for Democratic candidates and causes in 2026, and perhaps beyond, then this is a great opportunity for you.
