Gap Year Medical Assistant – Primary Care (Internal Medicine)

Great opportunity for MD grads, IMGs, and Medical Students

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Medical Assistant to join our busy internal medicine practice. This position is ideal for recent MD graduates, IMGs, or medical students looking to gain hands-on clinical experience and mentorship during a gap year or off-cycle period.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Room patients and prepare them for their visit
• Obtain and document medical history and reason for visit
• Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight, etc.)
• Perform EKGs as needed
• Conduct COVID testing and collect lab specimens (urine samples, flu swabs, strep tests)
• Administer vaccinations (flu, Hepatitis B, Tdap, etc.)
• Assist physician with exams and procedures
• Perform phlebotomy (preferred)
• Enter accurate information and diagnoses into EMR
• Call/fax prescriptions to pharmacies
• Change dressings and maintain clinical equipment

Front Desk / Administrative Duties:

• Schedule patients and manage reception tasks
• Maintain medical records and documentation
• Obtain prior authorizations when needed
• Ensure excellent patient service and satisfaction
• Perform general clerical and office duties

Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Prior EMR experience required
• Comfortable using computer systems and medical software
• Phlebotomy experience a plus
