Mechanical DesignerBascom Hunter designs, develops, and manufactures environmental control systems and components for the aerospace and defense industry. The Mechanical Designer role supports product design, development, manufacturing, and research and development.Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:Supporting the wider Engineering team by preparing high-quality drawings and bill of materials using CAD softwareUsing your knowledge and expertise to provide solutions to a variety of technical inquiriesDelivering all drawings according to an agreed-upon timeline, cost estimate and all relevant quality standardsEnsuring accurate application and implementation of standard processes and tools in the preparation of accurate drawingsOther duties as assigned by engineering managerRequired Job Skills:Experience designing / drafting mechanical components and assemblies in CADAbility to read and interpret detailed customer drawingsThorough understanding of common manufacturing and joining processes for metal, plastic, and composite partsThorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing along with ASME Y14.5 (2009 or newer)Thorough understanding of CAD software and PDM vaultsExcellent oral and written communication skillsAble to work with minimal supervisionPreference for candidates with Solidworks experiencePreference for candidate with working knowledge of aerospace specifications and standardsPreference for associate degree in drafting or mechanical designPosition is 100% onsite.All positions at Bascom Hunter are subject to background investigations.
