Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for payroll processing, account reconciliations, month-end close journal entries, and management of prepaid and fixed assets. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting the broader finance team.

Senior Accountant Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy of hours, deductions, tax withholdings, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances timely.
• Maintain the prepaid asset schedule, ensuring proper amortization and accurate monthly expense recognition.
• Maintain the fixed asset ledger, including additions, disposals, depreciation schedules, and periodic physical asset verification.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes to meet reporting deadlines.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation as requested.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned.

Senior Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-4+ years of progressive accounting experience; payroll processing experience required.
• Knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
