Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized part-time Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing accounting tasks such as bank and account reconciliations, transaction entry, financial report preparation and other duties as assigned. The candidate will report to the State Director, and then to a Controller once hired. He or she will be expected to support the overall financial health of the client non-profit organization. This role requires the ability to work independently, close books and produce financial statements. A strong understanding of accounting practices and proficiency in financial software, including QuickBooks, and others. Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
  • Accounting: 5-7 years (Preferred)
  • Ability to work remotely
Responsibilities * Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in a central location using double entry bookkeeping methods. * Manage accounts payable, including tracking expenses, processing invoices, and reviewing and processing reimbursements for expense reports. * Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
  • Utilize financial software to streamline bookkeeping processes and enhance
accuracy.
  • Record investment income & ICS transfers
  • Make transfers to and from the State Office’s and its chapters’ bank accounts
  • Calculate quarterly billing to chapters
  • Assist with payroll processing
  • File quarterly returns for any sales tax and assist with Form 990 and VA-102
filing preparation * Be familiar and able to work effectively with QuickBooks’ budget module to assist with budget preparation, editing and reporting
  • Gather W9s and file annually
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills * Strong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of accounting and financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in double entry bookkeeping and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience with accounts payable management.
  • Knowledge of GAAP standards and IRS compliance requirements for nonprofits.
  • Proficient in using QuickBooks or similar financial software for bookkeeping
tasks. * Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to produce an accurate work product. * Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data effectively. CEF Virginia trains ministry teams of volunteers to conduct evangelistic events. We serve churches and individuals by equipping them to fulfill the great commission as an ambassador for Christ – reconciling the lost with the message of the gospel. Our Focus Is On Children And Church Ministries Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Virginia is a church-assist organization focused on evangelizing and teaching children ages 4-14. Simply stated, CEF Virginia trains ministry teams who volunteer to conduct evangelistic events usually outside the church walls. Child Evangelism Fellowship of Virginia serves churches and individuals by equipping them to fulfill the great commission. We help them to be an ambassador for Christ, equipping them to reconcile the lost with the message of the gospel. CEF Virginia serves all of the state chapters throughout Virginia. We have several different ministries for children such as the Good News Club, 5-Day Club and CYIA. We host several events through these ministries thereby serving the churches with proven children’s ministry training, materials and methods. This in turn allows us to lead the chapter communities in evangelizing children
