Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Test Engineer, Features based in the United States.

This fully remote role owns end-to-end quality for new product features as they move from requirements to release. You will translate product intent into clear, executable test coverage and build the frameworks needed to run that coverage reliably at scale. The work spans the operator portal, backend platform, APIs, and endpoint agent, giving you broad visibility across the product architecture. You will play a key role in making automated and AI-generated test scenarios reliable enough to support release decisions. The position combines hands-on test engineering with framework development, API testing, and quality strategy. It is ideal for an experienced SDET or quality engineer who enjoys turning ambiguity into robust, measurable, and trusted software quality.

Accountabilities:

  • Own end-to-end testing for new features, from reviewing acceptance criteria through developing runnable test suites that can gate releases.
  • Review product requirements before implementation, translating ambiguous or underspecified requirements into concrete pass/fail scenarios and identifying gaps in testability early.
  • Design, build, and maintain browser-based end-to-end testing frameworks and fixtures, including parallelized suites integrated into continuous integration pipelines.
  • Develop comprehensive coverage across the operator portal, backend platform, and endpoint agent, including the APIs and contracts connecting these components.
  • Identify upstream integration issues early so that system breaks are detected before they impact downstream users or consumers.
  • Curate automated and AI-generated test scenarios into reliable, repeatable, and trusted test coverage.
  • Determine the appropriate level of testing across the test pyramid, balancing the value of end-to-end testing with faster and more stable lower-level coverage.
  • Monitor and communicate the testing status of owned features, including what is covered, what is failing, and where quality risks remain.
  • Close identified coverage gaps and continuously improve the reliability, efficiency, and maintainability of testing practices.
  • Collaborate with distributed engineering and product teams and encourage adoption of shared testing frameworks, tooling, and quality practices.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, SDET, quality engineering, or a closely related discipline, with strong experience across UI, service, API, and integration testing.
  • Proven experience building a browser-based end-to-end testing framework from the ground up and integrating it into CI, including ownership of the framework itself rather than only individual test cases.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright or an equivalent browser automation framework such as Selenium, including parallelized test execution.
  • Experience with API and contract testing, including Pytest and OpenAPI-driven testing; Postman or similar tools are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of schema-drift risks and the ability to anticipate integration failures before they reach production.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous requirements into concrete, reliable, release-gating test coverage.
  • Strong judgment when determining which scenarios require end-to-end coverage and which should be tested at faster, more stable layers.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed engineering organization.
  • Ability to influence teams and drive adoption of shared testing tools, frameworks, and quality standards.
  • Experience incorporating AI- or LLM-generated test artifacts into reliable testing workflows is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized test environments, as well as cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, is a plus.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions or comparable CI systems such as Jenkins or GitLab CI is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and test environment provisioning tools such as Packer, QEMU/KVM, or VMware is an advantage.
  • Experience with load and performance testing is a plus.
  • Background in security or data-protection products is beneficial.

Benefits:

  • Fully distributed workplace with remote opportunities across North America.
  • Meaningful equity in addition to salary.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 90% of employee premiums covered and 75% of dependent premiums covered.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • 12 weeks of fully paid maternity leave for birth, adoption, or foster placement.
  • 8 weeks of fully paid paternity leave.
  • $100 monthly lifestyle account for fitness, wellness, learning, and other eligible activities.
  • $500 home-office stipend for remote employees upon joining.
  • Inclusive and supportive workplace focused on diverse backgrounds, experiences, identities, and career paths.
  • Reasonable accommodations available throughout the hiring process.
